Akshay uses Twinkle’s ex-boyfriend’s nickname

It’s a mere co-incidence that in the film, ‘Patiala House’, Akshay Kumar was named Gattu which is unfortunately his wife Twinkle Khanna’s ex boyfriend and director Abhishek Kapoor’s nickname. It was dialogue writer Amrita Dutt's idea to name Akshay Kumar’s character as Gattu.

The three did not mind with the name rather laughed at the co-incidence. Says a source close to Akki, "Akshay and Twinkle knew his character in Patiala House would be called Gattu and were perfectly comfortable with it.

The real-life Gattu himself is amused by it. When he read his name on the promos he had a hearty laugh and even joked about the publicity he was getting.

Akki, Tina and Gattu are all friends and even attend social events together. Very few people can maintain such cordial and comfortable relationships but the three have behaved maturely about it. Akshay knew people would remark on the co-incidence but he was fine with it."

In the film, Akshay stars opposite Anushka Sharma.

A change for Akshay

Mumbai, April 16 -- A couple of days ago, Akshay Kumar arrived at an event to promote his film HouseFull looking most unlike his usual suave self. He was wearing a mustard coloured shirt and sports shoes. And looking ill at ease.

The mystery of the mismatched look was soon solved when my birdy who was fluttering around learnt that he had driven straight from a shoot. Fortunately, before the PC (press con and not Priyanka Chopra) started, Akshay's kapda from home arrived and he quickly dashed into a restroom and stepped out looking his usual dapper self!

Akshay, Katrina appointed brand ambassadors of National Games

Ranchi, Sep 24 (IANS) Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif have been appointed as brand ambassadors of the 34th National Games 2009, starting Nov 21 in Jharkhand.

'They will be present at the inaugural as well as closing ceremony of the National Games,' R.K. Aanand, president of Jharkhand Olympic Association (JOA), told reporters here Thursday.

'They will also endorse the promotion of the National Games,' he added.

Asked why Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has not been appointed as brand ambassador, Aanand said: 'Dhoni is from Jharkhand and we will invite him for the inaugural and closing ceremony.'

According to sources in National Games Organising Committee (NGOC), Akshay and Katrina have been paid Rs.4 crore. Posters and cut-outs of both the stars will be used for promotion.

Jharkhand was awarded the 34th National Games in 2002. First, they were expected to be held in 2007 but couldn't take place due to lack of proper infrastructure. They were then rescheduled for December 2008, then shifted to February 2009 and again to June 2009 -- but each time they were postponed due to incomplete infrastructure.
