New Delhi, Feb 25 (PTI) Director Vikram Kumar, whose film "13 B" has run into trouble with the Censor Board for the use of the phrase 'Sexy Mama' in one of its songs, has said that the authority is losing its credibility by engaging in such "silly" accusations.
"I am not against censorship for films as it is a mass medium and can influence people but it has to be done with a sense of intelligence, but currently it has reduced itself to a joke with its ridiculous actions," the director told PTI over phone from Chennai.
The film which stars Madhavan, Neetu Chandra and Sachin Khedekar was pulled up by the Board for the repeated use of the phrase 'Sexy mama' which it deemed insulting to women as it was an inappropriate adjective to be used for mothers.
"Sexy is not a derogatory term, it is a compliment. And, moreover, the board has an issue with the number of times the word has been repeated. It is silly that you deem a word bad, and then say that it is all right if you say it once but penalises you for repeating it," said Kumar.
While adding that culture is not static and it imbibes change and grows, he said, "I really don't understand the 'Indian culture' argument being used now a days." PTI
