IPL Showtime!

By Hindustan Times

New Delhi, April 16 -- AR Rahman, Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Bipasha Basu, Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif - the who's who of Bollywood are getting ready to shake a leg for the Indian Premier League.

While Hrithik and Bipasha will perform at the IPL Grand Finale on April 25, a bevy of stars will add glamour to the first ever IPL Awards Night, to be held on April 23, in Mumbai. While the organisers tried to keep the line-up a closely guarded secret, HT City learnt that Hrithik will be dancing to songs from his upcoming film Kites, and will also do a choreographed number with Bipasha Basu. "Hrithik's performance will be really special and will include some of his past hits," says a source from Cineyug, one of the event management companies organising the event. Rahman, apart from performing the Oscar-winning hit Jai Ho, will also be seen performing with British pop group Sugababes.

Talking about the international stars, besides Sugababes, that are expected at the Grand Finale, an organiser revealed, "Our first choice was the American rapper PitBull, but he refused. The next choice was Black Eyed Peas, who also said no. We also approached Usher, but he asked for too much money."

The IPL Awards Night will be hosted by SRK and Johar, while Shilpa Shetty, Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra will perform. "The IPL Awards is the crowning jewel to recognise the best of this season," said IPL chairman Lalit Modi.

Akshay Kumar injures Katrina Kaif on the sets of ‘Tees Maar Khan’

Katrina Kaif has not been having a very healthy time it seems. Not long back, she passes out at the sets of a film. But what happened on the sets of Farah Khan’s ‘Tees Maar Khan’ this time was very unexpected. During the shoot of a romantic and sexy song sequence, as Katrina moved towards her onscreen co-star Akshay Kumar, the actor’s jaw hit Katrina’s head and she started to bleed. Katrina was so scared to see the sight of blood that she started feeling giddy. Her misery turned into sobs when Akshay scared her saying that she would now need a minimum of 4 stitches on her head.

However, when a scared Katrina started to cry, Akshay laughingly said that he was pulling her leg. The injury was a minor one and the shooting was soon resumed.

Katrina Kaif plans a family holiday to celebrate her birthday Click here to add this article to My Clips

Katrina's dream birthday-holiday with her family is delayed again...but this time, it's only by a day. And that too with good reason.

Katrina has decided to leave on Sunday instead of Saturday because the cast and crew of New York are having a party on Saturday to celebrate the film's success. Akshay had his party for Kambakkht Ishq. I want to be here for our party."

"It's a very special film for all of. And I didn't want to miss the moment for anything. Besides, all my sisters aren't reaching London until 14th. So I can delay by a day."

She can't wait to zip off on her holiday. Net favourite Katrina searched a holiday spot for herself and her family on the internet. Katrina Kaif is finally free to go on her month-long holiday. On Sunday July 12, three days ahead of her birthday, she leaves for the family holiday that she has been craving for, in London. The entire Kaif clan will gather together in London and then proceed to an undisclosed destination in Italy for a family holiday.

"We net-searched, googled and finally found a place we wanted to visit," giggles Bollywood's most googled girl. "It was tough because there was no place the entire family would agree on. Or if we all liked a place there was no vacancy. We finally found a place that we all liked."

Italy is a favourite spot. And Katrina is often mistaken to be Italian. But those are not the only reasons why she's looking forward to the month-long holiday. This would be the longest time when Katrina would be away from Salman Khan and his family. And probably a time when she would do some serious rethinking about her life.

Says Katrina, "Quite honestly I haven't been with my whole family for a long time. I've been preparing for my holiday for ages. I've been working like a mad woman trying to finish all my work on time. It got hectic as the time for me to leave approached. I was dubbing for Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and shooting two songs for Priyan's De Dana Dan. At one point I thought I wouldn't finish on time. But I did. And I'm really looking forward to my time with my family."

Katrina returns to Mumbai on August 15, more than a month later. Her birthday plans are a surprise even to herself. "I know my sisters and brother have planned something. Let me enjoy the suspense."

Salman, Govinda celebrate Ganesh immersion

MUMBAI: Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Govinda on Monday joined several Mumbaikars in biding emotional adieu to Lord Ganesh on first day of Salman Khan and his mother perform pooja during Ganesh Chaturthi at their residence.

Among the prominent personalities who visited Salman's residence at suburban Bandra for the Ganesh puja ahead of immersion were MNS chief Raj Thackeray, cricketer Yuvraj Singh and actress Katrina Kaif.
Govinda
Thousands of Ganpati idols, mostly household ones, were immersed at beaches and lakes like Girgaum Chowpatty, Juhu, Marve, Gorai and Dadar admist chants of `Ganpati Bappa Morya, Pudchya Varshi Lavkar Ya' (a popular slogan hailing the elephant-headed God and urging him to come early next year).

Nearly 40,000 civic employees and 500 life guards have been deployed across mandals and beaches for smooth conduct of processions and immersion.

Nearly 44 motorboats and 12 fire brigade boats with necessary equipment have been stationed at major immersion sites across the metropolis.

The annual Ganeshotsav celebrations, that began yesterday, did not dampen the spirits of Mumbaikars as they welcomed their beloved deity despite swine flu scare and terror alerts in the metropolis.

Braving rains, devotees formed a beeline to offer prayers at the Ganesh idol set up by one of the richest and famous mandals, 'Lalbaugcha Raja' in Parel.

Katrina Kaif – Not Sexy

Despite being constantly voted sexiest no.1 by her fans by an international magazine, Katrina Kaif insists she is not sexy. "It feels good to be voted for by my fans and that too in such huge numbers, but I don't think if you wear a bikini or show skin, you look sexy," she says, "I would rather say I’m pretty."

Apparently confounding her own comments, Katrina looked startling at the Audi Q5 Launch Party at the India Bulls centre in South Mumbai. Wearing an off-the-shoulder blue tiered body-hugging dress with crisp black belt and shoes, she probably frustrated the organisers by constantly dragging people’s attention away from the car.

Katrina is still thrilled at being chosen as the model for the Indian Barbie and excited at the news that it will be making its appearance at Bloomingdale’s in New York as part of the doll’s 50th anniversary celebrations. “I’m thrilled!” she exclaims, “As a kid I used to play with Barbie dolls — which girl hasn’t? Almost every household has one. It’s every little girl’s dream companion.”

Now that the Bollywood strike is over, there are a whole slew of Katrina films to look forward to: New York with Irrfan Khan, John Abraham and Neil Nitin Mukesh, who Katrina has described as ‘the cutest2; Rajniti with Ajay Devgan; Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani with Ranbir Kapoor; De Dhana Dhan with Akshay Kumar, Neha Dhupia and Sameera Reddy and finally 7 Days in Paris with Imran Khan
